It’s time for our annual Johnny Mercer Birthday Bash! One of the most prolific songwriters of popular American music, Johnny wrote the lyrics for over 1,500 songs.
Eighteen of his songs were nominated for an Academy Award, with four of them winning. As a singer, thirteen of his songs were top ten hits and four made it to number one.
Savannah native Mercer co-founded Capitol Records and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
