Welcome to our Belated Independence Day Celebration! This week we’re going to take a musical road trip around the USA. James Brown, Ray Charles, Dinah Shore, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Bette Midler, Tex Beneke, Glen Miller, The Andrews Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald, and a whole lot more are here for the party. And your hosts, Art and Deb, may have had a few too many red, white and blue cocktails, so just ignore them and enjoy the music!
Leave your comments and requests for next week below, favorite us, and have a great week. Thanks for listening!
Thanks for playing Bobby Sherman’s “Seattle”, and Ella and Louie’s “Stars Fell on Alabama”!
Thanks also for playing some Ray Charles – he and I have FOUR things in common:
1. We were both born in Albany, Georgia (him in 1930, me in 1962)
2. Both our last names are “Robinson” (he was born Ray Charles Robinson!)
3. We both learned to play piano at a young age
4. We both moved to Seattle as young adults (Ray Charles at 18, me at 22!)
I have a hard time believing Johnny Cash has been to Hackensack, NJ – but I guess it rhymes in the song!
